Pruning/Trimming for mega yields
Hi all!
I read somewhere (I think it was an Ed Rosenthal book) that goes into pruning for extra large yields beginning a couple weeks before flowering and continuing every two weeks or so until done. This is done by staking the middle stalk and picking 5 or 6 of the biggest, largest diameter and healthiest branches and staking them at an equal distance around the perimeter of the pot, training them on the stakes, and eventually trimming everything else, all veg and branching, but the buds you have staked. The way I understand it, is this allows the plant to focus it's growing/budding on those 6 or 7 colas and nothing else, making them exceptionally huge, thereby increasing yield. I'm trying this technique, but can't remember which book I got it from and am looking for more details about this method...does anyone have a more detailed description of this method, because what I read was rather vague.
I would be very interested in hearing from any others out there that use this or a similar technique to increase harvest yields. Are there other ways to get more from less? Looking to stretch the limits of what I can get from my efforts, and I'm sure I ain't the first! Thanking everyone in advance! THANKS!TANKJR Reviewed by TANKJR on . I also do this 2 weeks into flower, as well as every couple of weels after that in order to use my light more efficiently. As much as I wanna believe the popular belief that pulling fan leaves is bad, and for the new grower this is absolutely try. But personally im growing bud, not leaves. Buds will only grow where light is shining, and pruning some of the big leaves allows light to penetrate to the little colas on the bottom of the plant.
I also lolipop all of the shitty growth on the bottom of plants, If its not going to grow into a signifigant cola, cut the fucker off. Seriously
This has been my method of pruning and training. It pays off with big 30 gram colas and 12 ounce's per plant

Thanks Dru-man! I was hoping I wasn't the only one...I have 'em staked well and at 2 weeks into flowering I have trimmed a good deal of veg out and the light is getting to everything very well now, so I guess I'll give 'em another 2 weeks and give 'em a good going over again. In the past I have just let God do all the work, but I was disappointed with the last crops yield (outdoors, severe heat and drought issues!) and decided to take a little more control...everything is training just as I wanted. Things are looking good, but I don't expect to get the same results as you do because I don't veg as long and large nor use all the nutes you do, due to a much smaller room and only a 400W light. I will be very happy if I can get an elbow off these 4 AK's! To do that would mean I have to get at least 1 oz.+ colas, but I think that is entirely do-able. Read your link and am very impressed with what your doing! I'll keep you informed as to how I'm doing as things progress! Thanks again!

When pruning fan leaves just make sure not to over do it. Dont just pull off leaves for no reason, but ONLY if it covers and shades a budsite. If its not shading anything, let than fan leaf absorb all of the light it wants and leave it be.
When i grow marijuana indoors i have height and space limitations. Its all about being as efficient and productive as possible right? I try to fill the entire grow area with giant colas, training allows me to do that. You should easily be able to get 3/4 of a pound from just that 400 watter.
In my opinion if you have a O.K. yielding strain, good conditions, a little experience, and the right training....you should be able achieve 1g/watt.
the purple didnt even yield the most. I have a sativa strain that gave me 17 ounces from one plant, indoors. Like i said get a realllly good yielding strain and you can amaze yourself.

That's the goal! Good God...I agree....dudes got skillz! Someday I hope to get to THAT point.....sorry, drooled on the keyboard lookin at that pic!
I have a bro who grows like that...3,000w/hydro/co2, but he keeps his plants much smaller than this dude does...I'm working up to that level eventually, I hope! Every batch gets me a new piece of the puzzle for the next bigger better room!
I have 4 AK-47's, so we'll see what I wind up with...No matter where I go....there I am! It never ceases to amaze me!
