Medical-marijuna industry contributes thousands to state candidates - The Denver Post
see the entire article at the dp. this is how it works folks.
Colorado patients really need someone fighting on their behalf.
--
"A review of state campaign-finance filings shows medical-marijuana advocates and business owners have contributed about $10,000 this cycle, mostly to Democrats, though not exclusively.
One of the most active donors has been Josh Stanley, owner of the Budding Health dispensary in Denver. Stanley has personally given about $2,000 to candidates.
Stanley is also a co-founder of the Citizens for Natural Medicine political-action committee, which has raised nearly $9,000 this cycle and contributed $1,200 to three candidates. Those recipients include Democratic state Sens. Chris Romer and Pat Steadman of Denver, who have supported medical- marijuana regulations that legitimized the industry.
"Just like any other industry, you want to have a say," Stanley said. "You want to be able to be in front and have your voice heard."copobo Reviewed by copobo on . One has to wonder how many hookers Josh Stanley, Matt Brown, and Wanda James sent to Romers house while 1284 was being debated. From what I hear Stanley knows quite a few of them.

Well, I'm glad to support Stan Garnett for AG. I'll leave the rest of it alone.

Everyone involved with mmj either as a patient, caregiver etc needs to read the paper and watch the news. As we all know some cities are trying to do away with mmj. We all know this from the papers, the news, etc. For months now since the new bills have passed because of Romer we are all losing ground in the fight to make MMJ fully legal. We are even moving backwards in our fight because of these new laws. Several cities and counties are now making new laws that hurt the mmj movement.
When these new laws got voted in it was pretty easy to see that Romer was being backed by big money to close down mmj stores and only allow big money people to control the mmj.
Now if you do any research you will find that Budding Health dispensary is the one putting money in Romers pocket. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM Budding Health dispensary. Do not put money in someone pocket that is trying to hurt you!
If Romer and Budding Health dispensary get there way they will close down everything they can till they control the market. Then prices will go through the roof. Please pass this on to everyone who uses MMJ.
check the net it is posted by every newspaper around showing the above is true

I think the argument is that before the passage of 1284, there was a lot of money changing hands. I don't believe they cover actual figures in this article, but it does talk about some of the organizational spending: Medical marijuana advocacy group implodes on the cusp of victory - Denver News - The Latest Word
I certainly wouldn't say the contributions in these races are indicative of "big money" in the industry being thrown around. Maybe that's because so many felt burned by what 1284 became by the time of passage?

Somewhat OT, Releaf, but do you have any feel for how MMC operators are responding to the possibility of legalization in 2012/2014?
