Anyone Use Soil for Cloneing ?? If so i have a few questions :
Im currently using just soil for my clones , no rockwool or peat pucks . Ive put them in 3oz Cups , with organic soil. Using a diluted bloom formula to help root growth . Now my question is , how can i tell if the roots are infact growing ?? With rookwool and peat pucks you can just pick them up and look underneath to see. Seeing how im using cups , with soil ... I cannot look through the bottom. Anyone know how i would go about checking to see if my clones are rooting?? Looking for a way to do so without hurting my girls. Im guessing pulling the clone out of the medium will hurt them ... (Not sure) so i havent done this yet ... Still lost on this one .
Some advice would be great, Thankskmac9119 Reviewed by kmac9119 on . Anyone Use Soil for Cloneing ?? Anyone Use Soil for Cloneing ?? If so i have a few questions :
put them in a clear cup; with holes in the bottom & cut up the side
put that clear cup in a slightly bigger solid color cup (3 oz in a 4oz, with holes)
you can slide the inter cup out at any time to check the roots
I do this with 16oz & 18oz cups. Makes the first seedling transplant a breeze, when starting from seed. Enjoy.

It was in a clear cup,... so I put it in a solid black pot that shielded any new roots from light.
After about 4 day's I started to see growth up top, at this point I knew it was rooted, but there werent any around the side's of the cup,.... that took another 3-4 day's before I was certain it was root growth and not creases or discoloration in the cup.
I put a round cup in a square pot,... that blocked 80% of the light from hitting the roots,... but at the corners of the pot where the light could get there, the roots didn't grow in as quickly.
That clone was my only dirt clone,... but I've had similar experience with rapid rooters.

I cannot add info any better than you got, but I wanted to comment on your last bit (acid/prozac) Dude, you are dead on right and made me laugh mao. I graduated in 1964, so this really hit the nail on the head. What's better for your health, MJ or some addicting pill like Valium etc. Keep on keepin' on man. Peace out brebakes:thumbsup:

Same as cloning with any other medium. Just keep the soil light and make sure you have your humidity dome.

Anyone Use Soil for Cloneing ?? If so i have a few questions :
Also ..... Whats the average time it takes clones to root ?? I know they can root as fast as two days or can take as long as 30 days ... does this all have to do with strain ?? (I have no clue what strain this is ... it was some GREAT bag seed)
I did use rooting hormone and have them in a dome with 90% Humidity , and also have used diluted Bio-Bloom to help the cuttings take root. Does any of this help my ladys take root faster , or what factors make clones take root faster if its not purely the strain ??
Thanks all

i would say average to root is around two weeks. it is strain and environment dependant though. some strains don't clone well at all.
there is no need for the bio bloom. the plant has to start producing undifferentiated cells first, that eventually turn into roots. think of undifferentiated cells as stem cells, they have the abilitiy to turn into many types of cells, roots being one type. once rooted you can use the bio bloom at 1/2 strenght as both phosphorus and potassium help in root development. once you transplant stop the bio bloom and go with the bio grow.
