Scott, 57, of Naples, has run one of the most unusual campaigns in the history of Florida politics. A first-time candidate running in a year when voters are upset with career politicians, he has spent more than $60 million of a fortune he earned as a health care executive. But that accomplishment has also been Scott's greatest problem, as the Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. paid $1.7 billion for Medicare fraud, prompting Scott's resignation and tarnishing his bid to lead the nation's fourth-largest state.
