Clones turning yellow

Hi. I got a batch of clones, roughly 11 days old. Using a fluorescent 100w about 10-12'' above the dome. Temp roughly 60-70deg


any help would be greatly appreciated...

Im just trying to pick up cloning, but il bet that light isn't close enough. Its just that the CFL's lose so much, the farther its away from the plant. I used 279w for an indoor last year and i kept my lights as close to the plants as you can. I would say at least 3-4'' away. I hope this helps, but im new to cloning and having my own issue now.

LSY, you can clone under one CFL that is 18" or so away. the light is not a factor at this point and time. the plant is working on making roots, not photosynthesizing to make new growth up top. once they are well rooted, then kick the light up.

If that's just a tray and there sitting in water there drowning...

Rapid Rooters have a great oxygen to water ratio but if there sitting in stagnant water that's lost and they become water logged, no oxygen no roots...

Damp and not soggy is the key...

Also keep the light a good distance from the clones, like 18" to 24" away

Lots of Great Cloning Threads on this site, worth the read...

One simple way, as they can take oxygen from the water as well...

Take a 8"x16"x6" plastic tub from home depot...

Place a 12" air stone on the bottom, fill with perlite and PHed water...

Cut, trim, dip and place clones in perlite, 7 to 10 days later you have roots...

Good idea to mist the clones for the first two days...

One of the other things that Shake mentioned was temp,... in my experience having the light that far away drops the temps too low under the dome. I guess a heating pad or similar method could be used.

I have a 96w 4 tube T5 on top of my cloner .5" off the top of the dome, so what? 4" from the plants? And I have only lost a couple of clones due to air getting into the stem on the 2nd cut (wilted dead on the next morning)

I hadn't much thought about the fact that they really don't need that much light, since they need to focus on making roots. I've been more concerned with temps and humidity.

Perhaps with my next batch I'll try something a bit different, ie less light and some other source of heat.
