Curing and Storage?
Thanks to all who take the time out of your busy lives to read my post. I use mason jars to cure my bud (10-14 days) I do get a little odor using these
. I was thinking of using a Foodsaver smartseal V3840 this unit has the ability to use vacuum seal bags or canisters FoodSaver® Vacuum Sealers, Bags and Accessories
I was also thinking of using this for long term storage. I am concerned about odor control. Does anyone use this type of system for curing and or storage, Any recommendations on curing and storage would be greatly appreciated.aquageo407 Reviewed by aquageo407 on . Curing and Storage? IMO
Glass jars are the best for long term storage. After 14 days there no need to open the jars. No odor will escape. Store in a cool, dark place.
Plastic is not an oxygen barrier. Air (oxygen), light and heat degrades THC. You would have to vaccum pack in aluminum foil pouches...(like MRE's)...

damn Dutch, can't believed you dropped the MRE reference! i had flashbacks. lol. actually most of them weren't all that bad. there were a few though. ham and cheese omelette rings a bell. GROSS. and frankfurters (aka four fingers of death; just 4 hotdogs in the metal foil you speak of. god only knows what's in a MRE hotdog!?).

never had the K-rations. MREs have ~3000 calories apiece in them. they are designed to be eaten only once a day or they will clog you up something fierce! not to mention they have at least a 10 year shelf life.

Yeah...dry 1-2 weeks; until stem snaps when bent...trim and put into jars...burp every few days; for 10-14 days...

Curing and Storage?
I found a great way to easily and quickly store weed for long term preservation. Vacuum seal using standard glass canning jars and a Food Saver Model # T03-0006-02, vacuum sealer attachment. It allows you to seal the jar using the accessory port line and astandard Ball or Mason jar canning lids without the ring. You can pop open the lid to remove contents, and then reseal using the same lid. If the vacuum sealed jars are stored in a cool dark place, you have eliminated the three factors namely heat, light, and oxygen. In a vacuum enviroment, weed does not dry out and inhibits mold.
Here is a link to the Food Saver attachment. The link is for the standard size lid, but they also have wide mouth version. FoodSaver®
Initially I had a problem sealing, but found that by using two lids stacked on top of each other worked, and after I verified that I was pulling vacuum through the accessory line by holding my finger over the end of the open vacuum line, it worked like a charm.
