    Very new.. started with seeds.

Hey everyone. I'm very new to all of this... I started with a bunch of trainwreck seeds, and i do mean a lot.. I accidentally germinated about 40.. 39 are currently alive, but only 22 seem to be doing well.. They are all under a week old still. I have a room specifically for them, fully insulated, and the such(since it's winter). But, as of now, i only have two weak little spot-gro lights.. or something like that.. they are 120 watts a piece. and i don't know if they're doing much good.. During the day i usually bring them outside just so they can get some real light.. (i keep them partially shaded, so as not to burn them). I'm hoping for any advice you can offer.. i don't really know if my plants are doing well or not.. If i need to, i can take some pictures, so you can let me know.. I started with plain miracle grow potting soil.(all i could find) And a bunch of peat pots. Like i said, if you'd like pictures, that can be arranged. Just lemme know

Looks like you are off to a good start.
Most common 'cause of early death, is too much love.

Do not feed for the first couple weeks and resist the temptation to overwater.
Also, you need to get them some decent light before they stretch themselves to an early grave.
Prolly don't need pictures without visible problems.
(We've all seen healthy seedlings. )

    Ya got me curious though.
How does one accidently germinate beaucoup seeds?
    I smell a good story.

    Aloha and best of luck,

I wish there were a really good story, but, sorry, i have to disappoint.. I was just a little.. 'medicated' at the time, and i forgot what i was doing, and dumped all of them into the wet napkins... once they were wet, i knew i couldn't dry them off and keep them, so i just went ahead and let them all do their thing

How much light would you suggest? I'm in a 11' x 13' room, with 10' ceilings.. I plan to switch to metal halide asap, and then to hps when i'm ready for flowering. Also, as for the watering, i was doing it vigorously for the first couple days.. The peat pots were exposed to too much light, and all the soil(even under the surface) was completely drying out.. Now that i keep them inside 24/7, they seem to be doing alright. They're five days old, and about 3" tall.. All have their first true leaves, some are working on their second set already . I'm really excited. Sorry, got a little off subject. But, for the lights, i was kind of thinking 2 600 watt bulbs, but i really don't know how high to keep them, or anything of that sort.. The possibilities with this room seem endless, it's just.. the budget that causes a slight problem.

For that many seedlings a 4 tube 4' fluorescent "shop-light" will do, if you keep it at 2 or 3 inches from the crowns.
After the 3rd set of leaves, switch to MH but hang it high.

That' ll do for about half the room.
With that many plants you may need more "footprint".
Just a guess here, I know nothing about growing large.

You might want to divide and conquer.
If you split the room into two rooms and put yer lights on wheels...
Those 2 600W lights can spend 12 hours in one room, then 12 hours in the other.
Lotta work, but half the power cost per gram.
If you split the room into 3. you can also keep cloning and planting in one of them for a perpetual harvest.

Right now i'm doing 24/7 light, so that they might grow faster. Is there any way i could just use the two 600 watt lights and juse use wide reflectors? If budget wasn't a factor, what would you suggest? I mean, i dont want to spend a million bucks, lol, but, lets say i could afford a pretty nice simple setup, using the plant count that i currently have, what would you suggest? And, the splitting the room is a really good idea. I'll probably move the plants i have into one corner(not tightly packed, just so that there's a square with one tip in the corner) and have the rest be for cloning, and storage of ferts and the sort.

You could set those lights up on light movers to cover the space better.

How expensive are light movers? and, any suggested places to find them?

Ah, lol. Are you a purely hyro grower? From what i've seen if your current grow, you're incredible. I'd kinda like to post pictures and get an opinion of how well my plants are doing at this time.. but i'm kind of frightened to do so.. since i live in an illegal area.. I just want them to do well... Do you have any suggestions as for how tall i should grow before i take a harvest? Or anything of that sort? Like i said, i'm VERY new, and would like any and all suggestions.

As for the light movers, i'll see what i can dig up on this here interweb.

Thanks a ton for the compliment, but I am pretty much a noob myself. Still learning and running into problems all the time. I just hope I can stay one solution ahead until I get this growing thing figured out.

Make sure to keep us posted. I am intrigued to see what happens with that many girls at once. :giggity:
