Fox Farm Soil Lice!!!
I just built a new grow room and planted some new plants and have noticed that the leaves are becoming silvery speckled. Upon closer examination with a 30x microscope, I have an infestation of SOIL LICE! I just repotted these plants 2 weeks ago. They were started in FF soil and transplanted in FF soil (different bags).
Has anyone else had similialr problems?
Can I get rid of them, or should I just start over?
Can they be transmitted to myself or family, or is this a different kind of lice?
Also read about baking the soil prior to using it. I never tried that and it sounds like a lot of work, but does anyone have any thoughts about that?
I'm considering using a different soil next grow. I'm not sure that I'm sold on Fox Farm because I've also had gnats from previous grows and they were flying around as soon as I opened the bag.
Help me out guys! And thank you...CaptGanjaMan Reviewed by CaptGanjaMan on . Fox Farm Soil Lice!!! Many stores that sell soil; has stored it outside, every since they got it?...it's gonna pick up insect eggs...IMO.
it's warm, moist & has holes in the bag...it might have been sterile when it left the factory?

I use promix myself its heavy as hell though. giant bag for $65 but its nice. I'm using it on my grow right now and never had probs with it.
I thought what I\'d do was, I\'d pretend I was one of those deaf mutes.

I've had no problems with FF Ocean Forest. Its fresh, moist, and there are a few holes punched along the top of the bag by FF. They are there because its bagged moist and allows it to breath. Good stuff in my book.

Fox Farm Soil Lice!!!
I sprayed the crap out of them yesterday with Neem oil spray made from concentrate. Today, there were only a few stragglers. I sprayed lightly 1 more time to wet them just a bit. I will wait 1 week and do it again. From there I will judge on whether I need to continue spraying.
I'll say this though, the leaves look absolutely fantastic! They are shiny, and silky green from the neem oil. That stuff is like Armour All for plants!
Today I decided to buy Sunshine mix #4, perlite, and some natural fertilizer mix for some upcoming seedlings. This will be my 1st grow without premixed bag soil. This is cool because I can control the nutrients that the plants receive. This should be a great learning experience! For this grow, I will buy new pots, and everything in the room will be sterilized.
...Oh, and the grow will be Northern Lights from Sensi Seeds! Can't wait!!!
