    WHAT DO YOU THINK!

    today i started my next grow of Sea of green, i can smell it now, should i immediately start my seedlings with this expensive lighting system of MH OR SHOULD i start with my small cheap flor like 2 40wt.

    I would put them under the MH, but have it be far away, like 2 and a half feet, and slowly bring it closer. And you will certainly want a MH to HPS conversion bulb.
    this is off topic, but if you say an HPS conversion bulb is the an HPS bulb in a MH ballast or vise versa?

    Seedlings will grow better with fluorescents due to the fact that it will not heat the soil or the seedling as much as MH wood. You should not use the MH light until the plant reaches the vegetation stage. The HPS light is for the flower stage.

    Thank you Zandor, good advice and thats what i did, started with the flors. I'll give an update in October.

    Good luck to you, remember when they get their 3rd set of true leafs you can move them into vegetation stage. If you are transplanting them, don't change the light until after they are transplanted and have stabilized. It should only take about 5 day's or so. Then you can start with the Mh about 14-16" away. The most important thing to remember is to monitor the temperature at the tops of your plants under the lights. Provide plenty of airflow through the leaf structure and you should be fine.
