to cheap to buy good equipment? = little smoke and lack of the passion it takes

That's why I started with a 150w for 90 bucks. The heat is manageable with a fan and 90 is fairly affordable. (Broke college student).

I use 2 150w Hps Street lights that I got for free they work great for me.

...either can't deal with the heat they give off, or can't afford the ballast or electricity they run, but the electricity issue is silly, as they provide the most light for the least watts consumed.
One might not wanna use 'em in the vegetative state, as they can induce killer stretch, but one should use 'em fer shure as soon as one gets into bud.
