headshake Reviewed by headshake on 10-13-2010. my new room Hi i have a 8X8X9 room i am going to use a drip to waste system. i expect to have 12-15 plants set up in three 2x7' beds. I am thinking of 6 400w lights to good coveage and less heat. Ballasts, resevoirs, pumps all outside the room as well a ducting. Using rockwool as a media. Do i need to do anything to the rockwool or is it really sterile. Also how can i steralize the nutrient lines from the pumps to the plants? Also does this sound like a good set up? One of the best pieces of advice I was given was to switch to rapid rooters. They are much better and remove many different headaches of our hobby.

2400 watts for an 8x8 space seems a bit overkill to me. does anyone else think that's too much? if you have any issues with heat, my suggestion is feel free to kill 1, maybe 2 of those lights. why so many 400's? like tiny tunes said, you'll get more lumen output with 2400 watts using the 600's. unless of course you got a deal on those 400 watt vertical warehouse lamps :P
