24-36 hours of darkness before pulling plants?!

Anyone keep the plants in the dark for a day or more before pulling and hanging?

When in the dark the plant is not phoyosynithising and the sugars and complex carbohydrates drop back to the roots.

That said, I have found no difference between a plant harvested at dawn, or dusk. You can leave them in the dark, but in my oppinion the results are the same.

So take 'em whenever you want to.

I just heard that when the lights dont turn back on after 12 hours they go into some sort of shock and over produce thinking that they they are gonna die...maybe its just a total myth and a waste of time.

    Prolly more like wishful thinking.

No need for extended darkness though, just filter out the UVb.

    Here's why.
    Hemp grows new trichs everyday.
UV burns some of them off, every sunny day.

Keep packin' 'em on and don't burn any off, whuddaya get?

That's why LEDs grow such frosty buds.

    Figured this out years ago.
Had a li'l patch of meds in Pacifica and the same strain in San Jose.
The Pacifica patch got fogged in for 10 straight days.
The SJ gals had full sun.
Surprised the hell out of me when the sungirls were just OK but the "other foggers" knocked on my skull from da inside!:stoned:

Whipped out my microscope and 'scoped.
Lotta empty stalk on Sun tanned ones.
Carpet of capped trichs on da fogged up gals.
    All cloudy too.
That accidental observation is why I jumped on growing with LEDs

Now I roof my greenhouse grow with a UV filtered polycarbonate as well.
And it has the same effect!

More resin is retained as the the new resin is being secreted.

    Looks like dis;[attachment=o257446][attachment=o257447]

    Try it, you'll see.
    Disagree?
Show me the error of my ways.

    Not all that amazing, really.
Just gotta observe, then think about what you saw.

Just a few years ago there were slim pickin's for LED lights and the decent ones were way overpriced.
So I hadda build my own.

If you click on my avatar, you'll see pictures of the build and the finished lamps in my albums.

I did a DIY thread in 2009 and he'ped a couple guys build theirs.
Jus' google "Calling out to weezard for led advice".
    Should pop right up.
Once you have a decent lamp, there's an excellent thread on the pragmatic usage on ICmag by Hempyguy.
If yer not handy, get ahold of Str8outtaWeed.
He has some commercial lights that look interesting.

Any way I can he'p ya, don't hesitate to ask.

    Aloha,
    Weeze

OK Weezard I got a question. Can one hang a sheet of lexan in between a sealed hood and plants to block UV? No leds here just a 600 hps.

    Thanks -

    Don't see why not.
Could lose a few percent of the useable light, but drop her down an inch and that's handled.
Can't try it here, gave my HPS away.
