Card Renewal
Well, I've had my card and PPL for a while...I got mine 1st, for painful peripheral neuropathy, then, thru a new Psychiatrist, for PTSD. In other words, the DOH has acknowledged that I have 2 qualifying conditions.
Problem I anticipate: my primary care physician is not that "cool" about medical cannabis, he asked me for a copy of my card, b4 writing any more scripts for pain meds. I believe the renewal paperwork has to be signed by your primary care physician. What happens if he refuses to sign it? Am I without any recourse, or can I go back to my Psychiatrist? Anyone dealt with this issue, yet????ScaredasHell Reviewed by ScaredasHell on . P.S. I did not do that green, double underlining of those words in my post, and quite frankly I find it very annoying.

I looked at the rules and it did not say you needed more then the PTSD doctors signing.

A: Currently, there are 15 qualifying conditions: severe chronic pain, painful peripheral neuropathy, intractable nausea/vomiting, severe anorexia/cachexia, hepatitis C infection currently receiving antiviral treatment, Crohnâ??s disease, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrigâ??s disease), cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with intractable spasticity, epilepsy, HIV/AIDS and hospice patients.
Q: How do I apply for the Medical Cannabis Program?
A: Your physician must certify that you have an eligible condition, that the condition is debilitating and can not be helped by standard treatments, and that the benefits of medical cannabis usage outweigh the detriments. For post traumatic stress disorder, a psychiatristâ??s diagnosis must be included. For glaucoma, an ophthalmologist must provide the diagnosis. For chronic pain, you need objective proof of severe chronic pain (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs) and receive two recommendations, one from your primary care physician and one from a specialist consulting on your case. The program has 30 days to review your application starting from when the program receives your complete application. If the Medical Director approves your application, the program will issue you a registry ID card. Application forms are available online at Medical Cannabis Program - Infectious Disease Bureau or by calling (505) 827-2321
hope this helps.

"Your physician must certify that you have an eligible condition" and" For post traumatic stress disorder, a psychiatristâ??s diagnosis must be included" I think by reading that you do need primary care physician to sign off they have your psychiatristâ??s diagnosis .

My understanding of the regs is that you only need a psychiatristâ??s diagnosis for post traumatic stress disorder applications, but it does say "included".Might be best to ask the DOH.....if you can get in touch with them.
