LAKEBAY, Wash. -- The hunt for armed attackers continues after a group of camouflaged men targeted a "significant marijuana-grow operation" in Lakebay on Key Peninsula.

Pierce County sheriff's deputies found one of the attackers dead when they responded to the 19100 block of Second Street after 8 p.m. Thursday night.

Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer told KIRO 7 that six or seven attackers arrived with the intention of robbing the grow operation, but the property owner fought back.

Deputies say the attackers were armed with shotguns, handguns and knives.

At least 40 to 50 rounds were fired. Deputies expect to find more shell casings when daylight arrives.

By the end of the gunfight, one attacker was dead and at least two others wounded.

Deputies said one of the wounded was the homeowner who fought back.

They said the man found dead at the scene was dressed in camouflage and armed with a shotgun.

They found another injured man walking down Tiedman Road.

Deputies continued searching through the night for three to four other attackers.

A woman believed to be the getaway driver is in custody.

Neighbors were urged to keep their doors locked and all 911 if they saw anything suspicious.
