on packaging and 'branding'
This article brings up a few thoughts about MJ and its future as we (hopefully) move into a legalization era.
At the MMCs I have been to (a fairly small number) the buds have always been displayed in some form of glass jar. Labeled by strain, but no sort of extraneous packaging. I've only seen one exception to this, little pressed round wafers of unimpressive (I was given a sample. Schwag.) smoke shrink wrapped and with a colorful label. I found it disturbing.
You know the day will get here though... branded, glossy package, designed by ad agencys with focus groups.
I like the funky atmosphere that exists today, an actual person picks out some buds for you, maybe shows you an especially nice one, places it by hand into a container for you. I hope it never goes away. It would be sad if every time you bought some bud it was just another transaction, like buying cigs, beer, or donuts.bikeTripper Reviewed by bikeTripper on . on packaging and 'branding' This article brings up a few thoughts about MJ and its future as we (hopefully) move into a legalization era. Good point. I think there will always be a market for the good stuff, and the personalized service you're talking about. That's what I'd want, anyway; healthy, organic, unsullied pure bud. I wouldn't want pre-packaged, chemically-treated tobacco company shwag. Eww! :S1:

get of the tobacco train, these people wont be getting involved,if prop 19 passes,it will still be illegal federally,it would be a major risk for tobacco companies or any company getting involved because they will just lose everything they had.....
dam every person brings up the so called big tobacco companies,in every thread about legalization, know what you are speaking of before you speak..
and again the monasato people or whatever is will not happen...
prop 19 is just a stepping stone,a step we need to take to move forward...
alot of money has been put into this and i highly doubt the people who have dumped in thousands of dollars will do it again just to lose out on there money..
remember this is a STEPPING STONE TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF FULL LEGALIZATION...
and keep in mind it will never be fully legal the goverment always gets a peice of the cake, and i am fine with that,.just like the food you buy and the water you drink, the goverment is always involved..!!
and to people worried about the goverment product<"strains" grow your own...
i am now officially done talking about prop 19 and the future of the herb....
and also the no voters 90% of you are in this because weed is your income,go get a job...
go vote yes! and lets open the doors to weed freedom..

I've read everything I could find, both pro and con, and I think we're going to be ok with a yes vote. That doesn't mean there aren't people out there with tons of cash ready to try to corner the market. Of course there will be.
The good part of the prop is that it leaves local governments to their own devices as far as regulating and taxing it. We will have to be active and diligent to make sure people will play fair and allow smaller growers to compete with the big warehouse operations that are bound to pop up.
Weed fans are going to have to get off the couch and go to city council meetings, and demand fairness.

as far a marketing and packaging and big tobaccy and all that .. I could picture this giant mc-walmart weed store set up some where in California and one lone brother outside it on the corner with better bud at a better value stealing all their customers. :rastasmoke: that is the American way.
May the best bud win.
