I'd really rather not hijack this thread, but will be starting a MG grow log if and when the attachment feature is repaired.

Yup, CFL's for early vegging. I think there's 8 of 'em on, but I've got 10 bulbs available on that rack. CFL's light is only effective to about 6 inches, maximum. I wouldn't get all anal about unusable reflected light. (the light has to travel from the bulb to the wall, bounce off the wall, and get to the plant. Technically too far for CFL light) But good job removing the foil.

I keep 'em about 4" away from the tops. With that many bulbs, heat builds-up quickly. Were you talking about the semi hot 23w CFL's (100w equivalent) or the 100w CFL's which are brutal hot? Makes a big difference.

Young seedlings and clones appreciate an extra inch or two of space, but after a week or so I let them 'grow up' to the 4" buffer-space mark, and maintain that distance till ready for the late-veg HPS. They quickly adapt.

I always use a fan from day one. (Seedlings only. Unrooted clones do best in a dome)

Mine are something like 2 or 2.5 weeks old...? Not too sure. Years ago I stopped worrying about how old they are, and started looking more to when they are ready for the next feeding, transplant or harvest. I'm impatient enough without clicking-off the days on a calendar. Not a recommended tactic for the inexperienced, as knowing your plants are right on track is comforting.

Don't keep the rootball saturated, it'll stunt the plants and cause problems. I keep my humidity low on purpose. Hot, humid air provides the perfect enviornment for mold. Heck...I don't even spray 'em unless I have to. Pre watering I'm at around 30% relative humidity. Post watering I'm about 50% RH. (in the growth closet)
