Pls. help yellowing with little growth

    Kush Bag seeds

    1st time grower

    I have a Cfl set up with 3 100 watt 6500k bulbs

MG soil time release mixed with some speg. peat moss

    12"L x 12"w x 18"h box with foil for reflection

filtered water allowed to sit out for 24hrs

temp in grow space is 77-83 f lights on
    65-70 f lights off

ph of soil is 7.5 maybe a lil higher
ph of water is around 7.3-7.5

    small fan

My ? is i have 2 seedlings that are aprox. 6 days from seed. Both seem to

have slow growth up to now. Both have 1 set of leaves working on pushing the second set up. But ive noticed on 1 of the seedlings that it has started

to lose a little color, turning pale green to almost yellow in color. i was

thinking maybe its because of p.h being in the high 7's. but ive also read on

here that people have used 8 p.h water with mg soil with no big problems.

either way i water them every other day or every 3 days when i feel it is

appropriate. but maybe its the time release soil that im using. strange

because these problems didn't arise till day 4. both seedlings are around only a 1 1.5 inches high. i have the lights maybe 2-3 inches max from the top of plants.

maybe im just bugging but are my plants small for 6 days or what. ill take any help and suggestions i can get. lay the info on me. :rastasmoke:

looks like the nutes in the mg soil is alittle to much for there young age.Next time fill your cups up with a soil with no nutes. Or bottom half mg. top half with no nutes. Also can start in peat pellets then place into mg soil after a week or when ever roots penatrate bottom I alway cut the netting on the bottom of the peat pellet after it swells, But before putiing seeds in. This assures the roots will pass with ease..

My local nursery closed it's doors, and now I'm back in Miracle Grow. I've got wellwater that comes out of the tap at 7.9 ph. NEVER would I try and use that water without first properly ph'ing it. Perhaps were I growing outdoors, but that's a different animal.

I germinate the seeds in a paper towel.
I set-up my cups of MG soil.
I flush the shit out of the soil. (3-4 times the volume of the cup, with properly ph'd water)
Once seeds crack open, I poke a 1/8 inch depression in the soil, place the seed in the depression, and cover with soil. (the soil should still be wet enough from the flushes)
Watch the soil closely, and water if/when necessary. Use care when watering, as you can bury the seeds deeper.
After the 4th or 5th set of leaves, 1/2 doses of growth nutrients, and watch their reaction. If leaf margins get brown (overfertilizing) wait another two weeks before the next 1/2 dose of nutrients.

Once the plant is mature enough for flowering, you'll want to think about it's final transplant. In MG I do my final transplant a week before switching to let the immediate release nitrogen in the soil to do it's thing for the last of the growth phase. If you wait till switching to 12/12 before transplanting, you can delay the flowering process till the plant is damn good and ready, and the immediate-released nitrogen is used-up. (after the initial nitrogen release, the nutrients in the MG soils are quazi-balanced from that point, forward)

Young sedlings might struggle a tad, but they usually recover if allowed to do so. Don't 'overtend' them with additives, tea's or other crap. Usually you'll do more harm than good.

yeah i was thinking the same thing too, But i don't know why it wouldn't show up b4 now. So what would be a recommended i do to fix this problem? what about the size do they looked stunt? they are only 1.5 inches in height, i did get these seeds out of a bag of og kush. so maybe there just shitty seeds. Any more suggestions?

    Thanks for replies...in advance:thumbsup:

edit: Or should i just wait till i do my last transplant to take care of this problem. im going to keep this tread open prolly till my problem is fixed or i transplant to final container. thanks again

Some folks run a 24/0 schedule, but I prefer a 18/6 schedule. My plants seem to do better when they are allowed to enjoy a dark period.

The plants look fine to me. And given proper care and some time...they should be even more fine. Patience is an important tool. Use it with abundance. (unless something goes wrong, of course...in which case it's ok to panic) Overwatering and overfertilization will stunt your meds.

Miracle Grow soils can be tricky and tempermental. It's no better and no worse than any other soil you'd have to learn how to use. But, some folks online still bash the stuff. Those gardeners have obviously never grown cannabis in MG, so I put them on my "just another parrot" list. Those without experience parrot (mindlessly repeat) shit they've heard, and are generally full of all sorts of other useless information.

With MG, generally, you'll use less nutrients almost all the way through to harvest, but you'll will need a micronutrient source. I use the Fox Farms Trio of nutrients, which has most of everything you need, and a handy weekly feeding chart. Unsulphered molasses from mid-flowering to harvest. Great source of calcium, magnesium, some micro's, plenty of iron and carbon, and carbs.

Watch for ph issues late in flower. The buffers will eventually fade-away making the ph take a dive. (raising water ph is the most likely remedy, but make sure it's a ph thing first) But being a 6 month formula, I'm not sure what I'll encounter in regards to ph stability. (my seedlings are 3 true sets of leaves old right now)

With MG, I always save the soil from plants I've vegged, that turned-out male. I use this soil for the final transplant. It's basically the same as flushing-out new soil.

I'm no MG guru, but it's what I learned how to grow cannabis with. (many years ago) Only difference is...now it's a 6 month time-release formula instead of a 3 month. So technically I'm still learning the new formula, but I've done ok with it so far. No issues at all.

    bump:
another quick ? for anyone, When it comes to CFLs i use the 100 watt equivalent bulbs. What is the difference between these and a real 100 watt bulb? lumens?

and if so could i make up for the difference with more bulbs or should i just go get the real thing. This is my first grow so i want to optimize my grow to be the best it can be for CFL.
Because i plan to flower the medicine under CFL too , So i wanna figure out this before i go by some 2300ks. full wattage or multiple equivalent wattage's?

Thank you everyone who may help out. (gotta love us newbies)

My lights just came back on my 18/6 timing, So i figured id take a gander in the box i have. And it looks like the other side of the plant<opposite leaf> is starting to turn that yellowish color.

Should i flush on my next water:question: or is it some how my water, that has a p.h of 7.5:question: it has new growth on it that hasn't yellowed so I'm confused.

ill get some pictures up tomorrow. Unless you guys have any ideas........ or you can refer to the first pictures those are only a couple hours old.:rasta:

    Only time can tell:blueknife:

My only 2 seeds, I'm trying for the least amount of stress to induce a higher percentage of female sex. I love my bitches.. Lol pertaining to my medicine. no offense to any ladies.:weedpoke:
