One almost-patient at our co-op tried to get his authorization through his doctors at Group Health. Although I spent copious amounts of time on the phone with nurses explaining the law and the authorization/verification process, we never did get him successfully authorized through them.

On the other hand, I believe I've done verifications for a couple of Providence patients, I think it was. Through their cancer doctors.

I believe that you have the right to see any doctor you want to see, actually... it's just that your insurance won't necessarily pay for such visits unless they're within the Group Health plan. If I were you I'd go ahead and pay out of pocket to go to one of the doctors in the area who'll go through your Group Health records and sit down with you to talk about MMJ possibilities. Dr. Gil Mobley (Dr. Gil's Clinic — MMJ assessment) or Dr. Rex Alvord (253-222-2172) are a couple of good options.
