So, as you all know my entire harvest was ripped off by thieves. The police caught them, and recovered my plants. But refuse to give them back because there is no way to prove they are mine (other than circumstantial evidence).

AND YET AGAIN, a fellow grower was ripped off last night (the biggest rip off heist I have EVER seen). They unhinged/unscrewed his entire gate to his fence and ripped off all of his in ground plants while he slept. Once again, by coincidence they were pulled over by police. But once again, they could not return the plants to him because they "do not have serial numbers or ID to link them to belonging to a specific person."

SO, after speaking with the police dept, we came to a solution regarding the return of people's plants: LABEL THEM. All you need is a small tag (some where inconspicuous to thieves), with your initials, license/recommendation #, and some sort of contact info (address, phone number) either around the main stalk, or on the bottom of the pot. That way, when/if your plants are found you can prove they are yours and by law they must be returned to you.

I know that in most cases you will never recover your plants if they are stolen. However, there have been two incidents in my area where the plants were found and would have been returned had they had some sort of ID on them. In addition, the thieves are not being charged with theft because with out an ID on your plant the authorities can not prove they were stolen. Hope this helps.
