Just Another Crappy Day in Paradise Grow Log....Part Two.

As a sucessful long season winds down, I notice a problem. I have 28 legal holes and there almost EMPTY! Shit. Well not for long.

We can fix this....but I need a goal. Long season was good to me, but I can do better. I could slam a bunch of seeds in the dirt and choke myself out on 90 day wonders. It would be easy to do, but yield would be...minor.

I have a light room. It is seldom used. Here's the plan. This grow will start hybred, 12 hours sunlight, 12 hrs CFL's. That way I can get my starts a bit of size, 3 ft or more, before dumping them into their holes. Once in dirt they will jump and bud. Maybe get some 5 footers.

In theory this will work. The whammy will be the weather. La Nina dominates the Central Pacific this year. That means we will be wetter than normal. The land needs rain, as we are still in a 2 year drought now. But the girls don't.

Today I am busting my seeds I crossed from last long season. My goal is to cross the Cali girls with my big yield Sativas. Also those first generation Cali seeds need to adjust to our climate and photo-period. I will also cross the Cali girls with themselves, Then back cross them over Jan - April short season. Maybe I can get them all over 8 ft on long season next year. Also I have new blood comming from the mainland too.

OK. Here's the rules. Questions, comments are always welcome. If you want to call me a pompus asshole thats ok (wife does daily). I would like to stick to this grow. If you have questions or comments about part one, put them there. I'm not done part one yet, and will jump back and forth until long season is done and gone.

Short Season in Hawaii is a quick trip. Three months. It is a time to mess around with the herb and not do any long term damage. Screw ups can be forgotten and if I cross a winner it can easily be put into long season's line up. Blink and you may miss it. And of course you poor bastards on the mainland will soon be freezing, so I will put some fluff shots so you can see what you are missing.

Boys and girls, I just hit the genitic Jackpot.

So far the Cali girls have been popular. The market is flooded, but the demand for the Cali girls have been steady. Next year I want to get them big. This year the largest one yielded 22 ozs. Next year I want 44.

I planted all my seeds from this cross and today I put them in dirt.

I'm trying to isolate the strain that has some size. I thought it would take a full three months to find the strain I want.

Today I go over to my partners house. He just had a stress fag go off in the middle of his garden. The stress fag was clone of the my big one. I gave it to him. Its my Thai/Bloodweed cross.

Then I see a bunch of clones I gave him months ago. He never took them out of the small pots and each plant was a 6 inch bud. All are from the Cali girls I made months ago. Some of each plant. I look at them closely and sure enough... seeds. Female seeds.

Bingo. Mother nature just gave me my first generation, Partner on the other hand is bummed. His entire crop is seeded. He is too proud to ask, but I will happily carry him this year. He would do, and has done, the same for me. It is better to stash genetics in two places anyway.

Now I have a bunch of 90 day wonders I don't need. They are easy to hide, guess I'm stuck with them. I will also need the males so I shouldn' grumble.
You all know what they say about blind hogs and acorns. Oink Oink.

Curious to see how that strain/seeds do here on pig island, west side. Not as much rain, but still pretty humid, I'm guessin'.

Well, that was special. My test cross of the big one and the cali girls failed spectacularly. The cross will look great on the outside, but inside mold is ripping thru the top. In six days it is shot. Pulled them all.

The other cross is showing promise. I haven't cut them and they came thru the rain just great. So far no mold, but I have no pollen from that particular plant. If I try to stress fag her I will blow up about 3 lbs of damn good smoke.

The clones at my partners house were crossed with the wrong male...I doubt they will be any more resistant to mold than their father.

So the genetic jackpot can still be used, I just have to abort the existing young seeds (there are not many) and re pollenate them. I have seeds comming up, from the wide one strain, I just need some time. And a good male.

And for the cherry on top... Weather service says we will have a very wet year. And they are usually right. Last time they made that prediction, a cut off low sat on us for fourty days. Sure made everything green, but it didn't help any plant in bud though.

So short season will be...chalanging...it seems.

    No rest for the wicked.....Shit!

Long season 2010 is dead. It was fun while it lasted, but I gots to move on.

    Wana know what happened?

    Go read part 1.

Short season begins. You know you are a grower when before you trim the last bud of the year, you start to work toward next season.

    Sparkly little morsels.

I loooove short season plants. You don't get much, but what you get is oh so tasty.

If I had my way I'd plant 500. And keep 'em all. Greedy bastard. Smoke them one after another. All year long. :hippy:

My partner knows this, and he has all the seeds. I have like ten plants from my first crack. BFD. How weak. He is messing with me. I gotta stop needling him about his seed crop

Eventualy I will chissel some out of him.

It's only fair to warn you this should be boring. No giants. No pounds...we are playing for pennies.... tasty pennies, but pennies.

And if I don't make a total hash of it, tons of seeds.

There's an offer floating on the bottom of page 11. Some of you know about it. Some don't. Still wide open.
