    ? about making hash

just curious, does the bud absolutely need to be dry before making ISO hash? im just wondering because the bud just gets wet when you add the alcohol anyways. how would it be any different waiting to dry the buds first i guess is what i realy want to know?

I just put it with the alcohol? I don't dry it any extra. But it should be pretty dry anyways, unless your like pouring water on it or something.

Wet with alcohol is different than wet with water.

I eliminate the water to keep from pulling all the evil tasting water solubles like plant alkaloids and chloraphyll into the extraction.

I have run fresh green material using about a 3 minute QWET, but I froze the plant material and chilled the alcohol first.

I also freeze cured material for the same reason after I bake it at 200F until frangible first, to eliminate as much water as possible.

I don't shake it agressively and the extract turns out a gorgeous amber. I tried twice to attach a 3 minute QWET picture for you, but the attachment feature just isn't working for me this morning for some reason.

For ISO at ambient temperatures, I only use around 15 seconds and then redissolve it in Ethanol to settle out. That will precipitate out some of the water solubles, but it is best to just avoid them in the first place.

yeah i was just curious cause i have made it before a few times with dried bud, few times with frozen trimmings, using 91% and strained through 2-3 coffee filters :hippy: ... was good stuff. just thought huh, well its just gona get wet anyways why wait a week, honestly its was because im tired of trimming G13, its WAAAAAAY leafier then the indicas, which means more time trimming/manicuring to look nice. but i get what you are saying about the "wet with water" releasing chlorophyll and such....didnt think of that realy, just kinda thought that when it got wet no matter what anything that got left in the leaf(not 100% gets out) would get released anyways, but yes the less = the better. which is why ISO hash isnt 100% pure. but its still a great quick way to extract and have a little extra, potent additive to a bong rip
