CDPHE tries to redefine caregiver, again, this Wednesday

ACTION NEEDED THIS WEDNESDAY
SEPTEMBER 29TH

On Wednesday, September, 29th at 2:00 pm the Medical Marijuana Advisory panel to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment will begin to discuss the definition of a Caregiver. The new legislation passed in May requires that the Board of Health defines what a Caregiver needs to provide patients in order to qualify as a Caregiver. The panel that meets on Wednesday makes recommendations to the Board of Health on this definition. The final language will be brought to the Board of Health on October 20th.

Opponents of the medical marijuana movement in Colorado will suggest very strict definitions which will make being a Caregiver very difficult. Although BCC & CKC are now considered Centers under the law rather than a Caregiver, we believe that Caregiver services are very important to patient access and choice. Caregivers serve a very important role in patients' lives and can work closely with Centers to provide their patients the best in marijuana medicine.

It is important that patients attend the Wednesday meeting if possible to give comment during the public comment period at the beginning of the meeting.
This advisory panel needs to hear from eloquent and concise patients that they need marijuana and education on its medicinal use from their Caregiver. They need to hear that patients' other medical needs are serviced by others in their lives and they truly only need the best quality medicine and consultation on its use from their Caregiver. Please keep your comments short and to the point, as long drawn out comment periods can be frustrating to a volunteer panel.
