looking for good Boulder Primary Care Doc

My wife and I are looking for a primary care Doc in Boulder that ALSO will sign off on our yearly MMJ state form.

We've got a good doc who has no problem with our use of mmj, but will not sign.

That doesn't line up w/our values.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I would imagine that a doctors recommendation of using that as medicine would raise possible liability issues with a doctor who might be unfamiliar with medical marijuana.

Have you tried to develop a relationship with a doc associated with your local MMC? I don't know if you use MMC's or not, but if they can recommend a doc who does the initial visits. It's probably likely that if they aren't interested in a relationship, they could refer you to a more 'friendly' doctor.

I think we're on the same page. I would never consider using my MMJ doc for anything non-MMJ related.

I see a specialist on a yearly basis & he happens to be extremely Liberal, actually believes it should be legalized for everyone & is ok with my using MMJ but due to concerns with his medical License will not make the referral as well. I believe this may be an issue with getting many PCP's as they will share the same concern & their license is the bread maker.

Actually a good idea as I'm also looking for a new PC doc. My current PC doc is 70 plus yrs. old and getting ready to retire. He delivered my son 29 yrs. ago and I'll miss him dearly. They just don't make them like they use to but it's time for me to find a primary care physician who is progressive and up with the times and the current research as far as medical MJ is concerned.

copobo sorry if I stepped on your post but I'm in need of the same thing you are. A PC Doc in western Arvada,Golden,Green Mt. area, that will hopefully become my PC Doc. for the future.:rastabanna:

And then there's insurance issues, too. If they accept insurance (if it's not a doctor you pay completely yourself in other words) they'd have to be careful because there aren't any insurance companies, as far as I know, that will cover anything mmj related. Because of that I'd be very surprised if you could find a 'real' doctor who would sign. I could be wrong, maybe there are doctors who would just bill you directly for that, but they probably wouldn't want to risk it/rock the boat with the people who pay them.

I am in the insurance industry.

It's in the legislation (a20) that insurance companies can't be liable for mmj related claims, so insurance reimbursement would never be an issue, because this doc wouldn't be the one providing medicine, only the recommendation.

I would imagine the liability issues would arise from the fact that the doctor could be held liable for the 'recommendation' if there was a problem, like someone smoking a joint, causing a car accident, then blaming the doctor for recommending that he medicate. Or something.

Plus, my doctor would lose credibility with my parents if they knew he was recommending marijuana, because they're old school and don't understand.

I'm sure there is someone around in the medical profession that could provide some insight.
