Hi all!

So I have spent the last couple days researching pot laws related to growing in Canada, BC, and specifically, Prince George.

We've been involved in several grows located on other properties other than our own. We have children and I'm just not comfortable having it around the kids, too many questions and too much chance of an innocent comment coming from a childs mouth.

However we are thinking about relocating, and therefore would be renting out our house. The person that wants to rent it, I'm know for a fact would probably be growing his own here, which really personally I'm okay with. What I'm concerned about however is what liability we would have as property owners if he got busted.

The more reading I do the more it seems, that especially here in BC, landlords are facing huge liabilities and costs associated with rental properties used for grow ops. Of biggest concern is insurance coverage, fines, possibly losing our house, and the fact that now it seems there is some talk of creating a real estate clause that requires it to be indefinitely listed on a properties title that a location was used as a grow which could ultimately effect resale.

I'm really new to all this, alls we've ever had is just a few plants for our own consumption, we've always kept it really low key and quiet and stayed under the radar. We don' sell, and people for the most part don't know we grow, so I've never had any fear of ourselves getting busted.

I am curious though if we choose to go the route of renting our home, we'll be in a different city, and for all intents and purposes oblivious to the actions here. The reading I've done so far suggests that landlords end up getting penalized more than the person that was actually responsible for the grow!

Does anyone have any really good resources for legal information in regards to specific laws in BC, that we should know and be aware of as far as protecting our property? Seems all I can find really is hearsay, conjecture and speculation, hard to find hard facts and figures. Help would be appreciated!
