It took me a lot longer than I anticipated to complete this harvest. Seven hours in total!
Just like canniwhatsis I had to get the dikes out to cut the buds from the screen.
Started at 8:00 p.m. and finished at 3:00 a.m.
Needless to say only a few hours sleep and loads of work left to do in the flower room today. (I am making some changes for the next run.) I am exhausted!
When I first decided to travel down this venture I definitely had no idea it would be this much work. :stoned:

This bud is definitely super sticky! :dance: At one point my fingers were basically glued together.

She is also very dense and rock hard. :woohoo:
Though there was a ton of tiny popcorn buds. I figured it wasn't worth it to trim these, so they went into the trim pile.
I'm going to have some potent edibles. :rastabanna:

yummie! I am dreaming of the day when I get to glue my fingers together here. I bet it smells divine in there! 7 hours!!! That has got to be a story all by itself! I am curious how much she gave you too... conditions there seemed to be pretty much optimal on a well filled SCRog... wondering how she stacked up to the published projections.

So, regarding the extrication from the screen...
anything you would do differently now in the SCRog because of what you have seen here?

And then the drying process, I have 1000 questions...
How do you like that hanging basket drying rack? I guess I should buy or build something like that soon too.
Do you turn them periodically or keep a fan on the cage?
Is it kept in the dark or in your flower area?
How long do you expect to keep it in the cage before it is dry enough to cure?

996 questions left, but I will stop there. The voices in my head tell me to go back to my quiet place and be a good girl.

The smell is becoming more and more sweeter. I like it a lot. :smokin:
As far as the 7 hours goes, it's not much of a story at all. Chopping her down and extricating the bud from the screen only took about forty minutes.
The rest was all trimming time. (Including a few breaks here and there.) I do not like leafy buds. So there was some extra care given to the trimming.
You also have to keep in mind that this is my first harvest. So I know I am not the fastest trimmer by far.

The first is a different type of pre-training (Trying to easily eliminate popcorn buds.) and the second is a screen with larger openings for flowering.

I like the hanging drying screen so far. It really helped to simplify the building process for the drying room.
I do not have that much space so i needed something that could be easily taken apart and put away.
The whole tent is collapsible and stores away nicely.
I will get pics of that once I'm finished drying, if you want.
There is a 4" carbon filter inside hooked up to a small fan exhausting from the tent. I have found out that the 4" is not enough for the job.
The fan runs continuously and just barely creates a negative pressure inside the tent. The temperature has been staying at 70*F with 50% humidity inside the tent. :thumbsup:

Like I said earlier this is my first harvest, so ergo this is my first time drying too.
My plan is to flip the buds once daily until the stems kinda "pop" to a 90 degree but does not snap in half.
Then they will be de-stemmed and placed into a paper bag until ready for curring. I will rotate the buds in the bag daily.
I am guessing this will take a little over a week all together.

7 hours! THAT is a session!!!! :thumbsup: I give up the ghost after about 4! But your right,.... you'll get faster at trimming as you bring down more harvests!





As for the dry/cure,.... it's all personal preference.

I like to hang branches and let them slowly dry for about a week before de-stemming and jarring for cure. This takes about 3-4 weeks total after chopping the plant before it's ready to smoke,..... but IMHO it's worth the extra wait! :S5:

I also do a "quickdry" method that the wife found somewhere for the "popcorn" buds so we have some initial harvest to test out,.... this is done in a cardboard box lined with paper towels that's on top of the TV to keep the temps in the 80-90* range,..... the buds are ready to smoke in about 2 day's to a week,..... but the QUALITY suffers greatly!!!!!!! :stoned:

Last night I decided that they were about 3/4 of the way done drying. So I de-stemmed the buds and placed them into a paper grocery bag.
Once in the bag I folded the top closed twice. I will continue to rotate the buds twice a day until I determine they are ready for curring.

It was about a week total for drying.
Now starting the cure. I figure it's going to take about 2 weeks for a good cure, but I will go longer if need be.

I have started to smoke the tiny "popcorn" buds that were thrown into the trim pile.
The high is really good, but I will give a full smoke report once the curred buds are ready.
The funny thing is that I have paid decent money for buds that look like these before, and they definitely were not this potent. .... :wtf:

Looks yummie! What did you do with your trim pile? I'm planning on making half butter and half topical oil with mine. I have been watching you work and have been making plans... I'm about 3 -4 weeks away now !! Did you say potent?
