    Thanks camo

Well the jelly is still persisting. My next idea is to try some beneficial bacteria.

Today I went to my local hydro shop and talked with the guy for a bit. He is also stumped and not heard of this type of growth before. He then pulled out a freebie from a trade show, and gave it to me to try.
It is called Cobra. So yet again the soup is changing today once lights go on.

    The Soup:
    • Tap Water
    • 5 ml/gal Hygrozyme
    • 5 ml/gal CalMag+
    • 5 ml/gal Pro-Silicate
    • 5 ml/gal each of Micro, Bloom, & Grow
    • 1/2 tsp/gal Cobra (beneficial bacteria)

    tiki,
Lemme ask ya,this.. Has any of the equipment that you use, ever been used with a salt water aquarim? Like a reef tank. If you said yes. It would be a Brown like jelly that attacks coral. I was just curious..

Look into the cyano-bacteria. Sounds very much like what happen to me.

Only way to take care of it for us was Physan20.

Nothing will touch it and it starts a bio-slime that stay on all surfaces if not cleaned with something that can kill it. It's a kind of clear snot growth and it does not need light to grow. In most cases the good bacteria keep it in check but when conditions are right in hydro non of the main products will help. They are dealing with algea type problems and that won't work here.

You got alot of reading to do now . Hurry no time to waste you might be able to save them little ones.

Well i just did a lot of reading. Everything I could find said that cyanobacteria does require some type of light to grow. Although it can live in very low light conditions. If you have links or other info on cyanobacteria I will gladly read it.
Thanks for the heads up and the educating.

At this point I'm still not sure what this growth is. My plan right now is to give the beneficial bacteria some time to try and win the battle.
If that doesn't work, then I may give Physan 20 a go at it. All suggestions are still greatly welcomed.

Get some physan to have on hand for cleanups too. Then you will be ready.

Remember that the cyano covers the roots in snot and cuts off all oxy to them giving the look of root rot. So everything will look like root rot.

    Good luck.

Well all this crap is starting to take a toll on my plants.

Today I did another res change. Did not notice much difference in quantity of the jelly growth, but I did notice that it was a lot easier to clean off than before.
I reserved a few cups of the old res and added it to the new soup. Hoping that by doing this I will continue to keep building up a powerful colony of beneficial bacteria.

My current plan is to do this every few days and hope for the best.
Unfortunately this is all I can do until the first.(payday)
