    is my friend talking rubbish?

My first grow went like a badly oiled machine.....first off I nute-burned my little plant, then, when I had bothered to read up on what to do I managed to get to the flowering stage. However the triumph was short lived. My feminized white widow was a he. Bugger!
OK, so I learned a lot and have started a couple more seeds which have germinated fine. I don't really want any more males and as far as I have read on this and other forums the only sure way to tell is to root a clone, and then stick it under 12/12 for a bit to see what flowers it grows.
My mate says that there is a way to tell the sex of a plant after only 2 leaves have appeared.... "you look for this little bit under the leaves, if it's there then it's a female", he says. He can't tell me any more than that!
Is this true, or is this rubbish?
Please be as rude as you like when replying......I personally think it's codswallop

    Thanks

you cant tell the sex of the plant with only 2 sets of leafs, impossible, unless its a clone and even then its hard with just 2 sets, only way to to check is either veg them out for 4-5 weeks and you should get pre-flowers,
this is a good way but can also be missleading for a new grower...

the other option is to grow the plants then take a cutting and root/flower it out and what you get is what you get..

your friend must be growing super weed that talks to him..

i no i will never buy feminized seeds again, buying regular seeds and doing the old fashion way is alot better but can be a pain in the ass..

and if you buy regular seeds from a top breeder you will have a high f/m ratio from my experiance....plus you can also breed them and make more of them seeds.for future grows/storage....

Can you be more specific on what makes regular seeds "better"? Not arguing about it, just curious.

he's saying he doesn't want to waste money on fem seeds any more as they didn't give him fem plants, thus he is going to stick with 'regular' non feminized seeds as he would rather take his chances with a 50/50 male/female ratio then waste money on femed seeds.

the only way to get a female is to buy femi seeds and even then its no garentee.......there are ways to increase your chances of getting a female. and that is by limiting stress factors in its life.
a seed has bothe genetic make of male and females. it is the conditions it is grown in that decide what it is going to be. that is natures way of continuing the species goes own. why do you think you still get a few seeds even when there is no male in your sealed off room of females. its nature
if you limit the stress and create the optium conditions it is mostly you will get a female. i only take 1 male to pollentate endless females. that is why you mostly get females when yu germinate from seed. alot of people may not agree with me but i am sure if you germinate 10 seeds the female to male ratio is going to be very high because you just need 1 male to a entire havest.
