I've run into this same problem... ended up smoking leaves now and then. Not pleasant at all. Tastes very harsh because of all the nitrogen and doesn't even compare to smoking buds. If you've smoked good bud in the last 2 or 3 weeks you probably won't notice anything from the leaves.

As far as which to smoke, the older the plant - the more potent it gets. I started from the bottom up, clipping the smallest buds that don't get light plus some leaves. I cut the buds and leaves into small pieces, spread them across some tin foil, and put them in the oven on about 70 degrees Celsius, or about 150F. Takes 10-30 min usually depending on the size of the pieces to and how long ago the last watering was.

I am not recommending you do this. Just giving my experience on it. The effect is very mild and short-lasting even with a zero tolerance. Plus all those little buds are very underdeveloped, so one joint now means probably 10 less joints after harvest. :twocents:
