What you did was force them into flower too early. They are clones, so the cells are the same "age" as the cells from the parent plant. With clones if you start them on 12/12 right away, they'll flower right away since the cells are "older" in a sense, whereas from seed, it would've taken longer.

But they were clones, genetically identical to the parent, if the parents were female (most folks only clone fems, except breeders) the clones will be female. You veg a plant under at least 14 hours of light/10 hours dark, I prefer 18/6 or 24/0 for veg. You wait till the plant is however big you might want it then switch to 12/12, expect the plant to double in height during the first 2-3 wks of flowering.
