    Carbon Filter Review

I saw on some other boards, that some people made their own Carbon Filter to hide the smell, especially for the stinky strains.

I know that I can make one quite cheap and easy, I was just wondering if any of you picked up a store bought carbon air cleaner.

If so, post up the type/model and what you think of it!

Good question man. I'm in the market for one also, but at $150+taxes I'm thinking of making mine. I hope it's not a you get what you pay for thing. Probably is though ahhh.

Well, I've never tried to make my own. However after using my store bought scrubber for two years, I decided to take it apart and just replace the carbon.
From my experience, it was quite expensive and VERY DIRTY and have never done it again. I just replace it and try to dispose of the old one without taking it apart.

    That's my 2 cents worth

I paid $150 for a Phresh carbon exhaust filter and you can still smell weed coming from under my house. Investing in a completley smell-proof operation is expensive. There is no cutting corners if you are growing strains like White Widow, UK Cheese, and Green Crack like I am....

I am using this one in a 3x2x5 tent and it keeps the smell down pretty good and pulls the heat out of the tent through the filter. Nice cheap combo and in a couple grows just take a drill and drill the rivots out take the lid off dump the carbon and put some good highly active carbon back in. I think its 4 lbs worth in there. If your need bigger they have a 6 inch scrubber combo too.

i was told today to build a box so your carbon filter blows into it and have a ozone generator in it and it will kill 98% of the smell. havnt tried it yet but might when i build my cabinet. if i do i will repost review on it

    Carbon Filter Review

I have made my own using DIY methods and also purchased a Phresh 200cfm filter. The Phresh works great. ZERO smell... like a nuetral type smell coming out of the duct. I cant see the Phresh not working since mine works so well. The DIY worked for a bit but lost its power after 2 cycles. On top of that the Phresh is tiny in comparison and weighs barely anything. I can mount it almost anywhere and not worry about the weight.

It is very important that you match the CFM rating on your filter to the CFM rating on your fan otherwise you arent letting the filter work properly and the smell is likely to escape.
