Criticize my gro please

This is my first grow, I used regular cheap 3$ bag of dirt from wal mart, then switched it to miracle grow soil. I know I messed up, I already bought a tote, and water pump to make myself a ghetto hydro system, Can I transfer from miracle grow dirt , to hydroponic system at this stage? veg state still.

Oh yea, those 2 cfl's are daylight bulbs, about 100 watts each, 5000k
( got a couple 2700k cfl 40 watt bulbs ready for when they flower)

The wall is a car window reflector, the fan is a 3$ 1 setting fan from walmart.

I am not using miracle grow plant food in the water since I replaced the soil with miracle gro soil, (moisture control).

First off, im sorry to say this but you might as well kill that plant... possibly 6 weeks old? thats horrible i've seen a week old plant that big you stressed it too bad and its stunted... so now it'll hermie... and no plants like going from soil to dro... Well in my lifetime i havent gotten a sucessful transfer but just get the dirt good and ready before you start a plant next time, put it in a 1 gal pot and DONT F*** with its roots man and you'll have much better luck:thumbsup:

jk, i hear stress is worse in the flower stage then the veg stage for turning a plant hermie, for example, people fim, or top plants all the time during veg. i think you have nothing to lose by trying to fix it.

i also dont recommend starting in a 1 gallon, most of what i have read says that young seedling roots cant reach that far at first and so water can sit and get nasty in the pot.

overall, your plant actualy looks nice and green. good luck with the changes :thumbsup:

It doesnt look that bad to me :thumbsup:.

#1 thing would be more light, more light, and some more light. Those Cfls only put out so much, so your going to need alot of them(preferabally in bigger wattages too)
Use the 5000K bulbs for vegetatative growth to encourage leaf growth and keep your plants from stretching And throw in the 2700k bulbs when you go into flower. Your going to want alot more though if you want to get a good yield. When you do flower the plant is gunna stretch and its going to need CFLs all around the plant, not just above. They can work fine, but they dont penetrate the canopy worth a shit.

Your soil is not ideal, but it will work to grow some decent herb. With the MG moisture control stuff you may run into overwatering problems. Just watch your plant and pay attention to the soil moisture. Experienced growers dont have a set watering schedule, they only water and fertalize when needed.

If you were planning on doing that....

Go to a hydroponics store and purchase a PH test kit, PPM pen(its optional, but you can find some cheaper ones online), and some good nutrients. Grow formula for veg, Bloom formula for Bloom. Miracle grow fertalizer wont work, its not meant for hydroponics and will end in disaster.



Its also extremely stressfull to the plant and roots. If your plants do survive, its probably going to be a couple of weeks until you see solid growth again.

If you do decide to transplant that thing into a a DWC setup. Get some qaulity hydroponics components(net pots, hydroton, air pump, air stones) and please please please.....Dont half ass things. i see alot of new growers on theis who half ass growsand destroy their crops out of idiocracy. I refuse to let you go down that way.

this is bad advice. Plants dont go hermaphrodite from stress in the vegetative part of growth. This is when you can stress the fuck out of them and mold them to your liking. I've used LST, Super cropping, FIM, and ive topped plants and as long as you dont do it in flower, you shouldnt develop hermies. That happens when you fuck with the plant in flower. They get pretty picky when they recieve light leaks into the garden so Make sure that you have the grow area totally sealed off from outside light

Yes, the plant is about 6 weeks old, At first it was in a smaller pot, then I transfered the plant to this pot in the picture, (didn't grow for about a week after the transplant from being stuned) at the same time in the miracle gro soil.

The plant is shorter for that reason and another , I planted it too deep when the xfer to new pot/soil occured. I noticed some bottom leaves turned yellow and died week 1 after transfer due to the soil being to high to the plant.

But its looking good now, besides some holes i'm noticing in the big leaf, (is this bugs?)

Okay, I did a DIY hydro setup with a airpump and air stone using a 5 gallon home depo bucket. I learned the hard way that I don't have the money right now to buy the ppm, EC and ph meter and the ph down . So I transplanted BACK to soil yet again. As you can imagine my plant looks like SHIT as you can see from the pictures(I crumbled the brown leaves off)

I used a bag of earth gro soil from home dep for like 5 bucks. Took out many sticks out as I could and added perlite to it. I still have foxfarm trio quarts I plan on using in the water with this schedule :

Bigbloom, 2tbl per gallon of water for the 1st month, every other watering
Except, dont give plants any on 4th week!
weeks 5 thru 12 1tbl per gallon of water, every other watering

Growbig, weeks 2,3,4,7&8 2tbl per gallon of water every other watering

TigerBloom Weeks 5thru12, 2tbl per gallon of water every other watering.

I use sink water that sits for 24 hours before use, it has ph level of 7.5 and I use conc lemon juice to lower it to 6.8 after the foxfarm nutes added. The runoff PH was about 6.5.


Those are 4 CFL 100 watt equiv lights in BIG RED cans using a replacement vent peice for a dryer from home depo (3$) as a reflector.. I made that ghetto grow box in the corner of my closet using window reflectors for cars, and cardboard box. The exhaust fan is from a pc fan to lower temp (good enough for that small box). Should I put wholes in the bottom of the door ? or add another pc fan blowing air in?
