Anywhere near the mountains is EXPENSIVE to live. There's some good folk up there, and if you really want to disappear,.... you can do it in the hills. But it's a tough life to live that way.

The flatlands and major city's are cheaper, work is easier to find, housing is more affordable, and overall cost of living is better.

There's lots of new development east of Denver in Thornton/Commerce City/ Aurora towards the airport. (DIA)

Buddy of mine just got a NEW house that's about 1/3 larger than mine for 40k less than I paid for my house! ( his house was around 185k )


I would aim for somewhere between Denver and Ft.Collins as a starting point.
