Intro and just received Doc Recommend
Just wanted to introduce myself and get some info. Name is Dewey. 40 y/o with a rare genetic neurological disease. Spino Cerebellar Ataxia type 2 (SCA2). Abnormal protiens attach themselves to cells in my cerebellum causing cells to die and cerebellum to atrophy. Resulting in loss of balance, fine motor skills, slurred speach, and cognitive decline. Disease is degenerative with no known cure. Symptoms can be treated but that is it. One of the symptoms is extremely painful neuropathy in my legs and feet. I have tried all of the normal treaments for neuropathy with nothing relieving the pain. My neuro this past week signed the recommendation for MMJ. My medical records detail all of the treatments that have been tried with the diagnosis of SCA2 and painful neuropathy. I have sent in the app. Now wondering what to expect next. Thanks all.

Hello Dewey:
Your doctor(s) made a recommendation to the Department of health for you to use medical marijuana to treat your condition. The DOH will review your medical records, make a decision and either send you a letter of denial or a card, with a list of the dispensaries. It takes from two to four weeks to hear from them by mail, depending on case load. For complete information their web site is:
Medical Cannabis Program - Infectious Disease Bureau
Once you get a card you can apply for a grow license and raise 16 plants, but you can only mature four at one time, keeping the rest under 12" tall by 12" wide. That is the 4/12 rule.
You have the hard part done, now its a waiting game.
I sure do hope you are feeling better, chronic pain really sucks.
I hope this helps.
take care
Bill

Your welcome Dewey:
You have a strong case like ScaredasHell, and should have no problem. I sure feel for you guys, and wish you all the best.
I'm dealing with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and there is no cure also, just good days and not so good days. This forum is full of caring and compassionate people who know what is like to live with chronic pain, or illness, and understand the benefits of MMJ, in a world that doesn't. That's what makes this place so great.
Feel free to contact me any time, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. My email address in on my profile page.
Sincerely
Bill
