How far from the top of the pot is the soil? If rootbound, you might be ok with carefully lifting the plant out and adding enough soil to the pot to raise the rootball to within an inch or two of the pot rim, but leave enough room for watering properly.

Perlite (or if need be, vermiculite) is a must.

Unless you have a full compliment of square pots, might be best to use round ones.

How often are you feeding at that rate, and is that what the directions say to do?
