Digital Ballasts and TV Detector Vans ???

Here's a strange one for you all'.. The other day a friend told me that the digital ballasts give out a signal that a TV detector van can pick up' for those of you that dont know what a TV detector van is'. its what they use in the uk to oust you for not having a TV licence' and the van picks up the signal from your switched on tv'.. i dont know if its true about the ballasts so if anyone else has heard the same then lets hear it'.. if it is true then im sure there will be growroom ballast detector vans out there pretty soon'.. lol

Nah...in order to put out a RF signal (aka a radio and tv signal) you would need first a RF transmitter and secondly an RF antenna. You have neither inside your ballast my friend. It's possible the digital ballast might put out some sort of interference as all electronic devices can and do emit radiation. This is why everything has those FCC stickers on them, at least in the US, and why those little magnets are covered on all our electrical cords these days. These tricks help ensure that whatever bleed off signals that might be escaping your devices wont interfere with your other devices or someone else's devices. However, unless there is a ton of power going to the device, it wont have a ton of escaping RF. At best you might could pick up distortion or something a few inches away from the device, but I bet their shielded pretty well to prevent such things.

Heat would be the easiest way to detect you my friend...all that is necessary there is a Fleer camera attached to that police helicopter that keeps causally flying real low to your house. All I would need to do there is look for large hot spots. bah...does anyone even look for growers anymore?

California just passed the "we dont give a shit, we's gonna smoke it anyway" law just last week. Arnold decided that even if Prop 19 wasn't going to pass he was going to decriminalize anyway. Even before your post id asked a guy in a grow shop about this and he said that it was true but was corrected almost straight away' it was probably the 1st ever ones produced' im not into electronics so dont know what sort of signal they put out but it was detectable'.. besides i havent seen a tv decector van on the streets of the uk in about 25 years'.. lol the high fines and threat of prison if the fines dont get paid make people buy the licence so no need to send the vans out anymore...

One real concern to be worried about are these new "backscatter vans" They can see into building, car, shit man... The cops are buying them up. They can see like x-ray vision up to 1500 feet from where the truck is. check out the story on fox news... :stoned:
