most would probably let their trichs get to 20-25% amber. the best time to harvest for optimum THC potency is when the majority of the trichs are milky. keep in mind that the plant will still continue to convert THC-A into THC once you harvest. this is why bud gets more potent the longer it cures.

once trichs turn amber THC STARTS TO DEGRADE. period. yes this will give you a more couchlocked stone, but the genetics still play a part in this.
