    Plants are guzzling water?

I have 4 ladies in a 2dx4wx4h under 330 actual watts of cfl and 128 actual watts of t8 4' tubes for a total of 458watts and they have been doing nicely for my first grow. My question is, I am in my 5th week of flower and have been watering 1 1/2-2 quarts every 2-3 days. I check the soil with my finger before watering. All of a sudden, my ladies started taking in 1 1/2-2 quarts a day! Is this normal? Again, the plants seem healthy and temps don't get higher than the low 80's. Buds are getting very firm.

Yes, in addition to environmental moisture (humidity), there is a point during the flowering where it seems you cannot give enough water. Be careful, as it suddenly stops the demand just as fast as it started and you risk root rot if not monitoring closely.

Do you really have to worry about root rot when plant wont be in flower for hardly long enough for it to start? I've experienced root rot when growing outside but not since growing indoors. I use eb and flow now but was using soil up until now. My sativa I have in now in in wk 7 of flower and looks like she might go 10 before she is done. She is about 41/2 ft tall and in 5gal bucket. She is drinking about a galon and a 1/4 every other day.:rasta:

In pots yes, as far as hydro, I have no idea, no education at all in that direction.

Also, yesterday, I remembered later I should have mentioned that sudden water use can also indicate a need for a bigger pot.

If the roots are still nice and white things are great, if they have a yellow tinge, the plant has the rot and the transplant might save it.

The roots are still white for now. The roots on my Trainwreck were coming out the bottom of a 3 gallon container within about 2 weeks of starting. I assumed that they could not have filled in the whole bucket in that time so I left them in it and they seem to be doing good.

My TW from seed didn't like 3 gals (10L), preferred the 4 and 5 gallon containers a lot more
