Colorado set a Sept. 1 deadline for medical marijuana centers to state that 70 percent of the marijuana they sell is either grown themselves, or that they have a plan to grow at least 70 percent themselves. The state's new marijuana law aims to cut out independent caregivers who grew pot for sale to dispensaries.

But state officials concede that it will be almost a year before Colorado's pot shops are audited to see where their pot is coming from. Dispensary owners complain that the new growing requirement is vague and impossible to enforce.
