Moving to Seattle, WA, need help!

Hey guys, I'm a newb here, and I was hoping for some help with some questions I have.
I;m moving to seattle WA in 6 weeks from Milwaukee, WI. Here we have no MMJ laws and I have severe chronic pain, because of which I have been on various narcotics for 2 years. Of course, now im addicted and working at weaning off in preparation for my move. I used to use MJ recreationally prior to my accident, but because of state laws, my pain management clinic drug tests me and I had to stop smoking.
I have sent out emails to 3 doctors or groups asking what I need to bring and how to go about getting my MMJ card, however, I want to know what people in the area have had experience with.
    Any recommendations, advice, etc?
    Thanks in advance!
    Aaron

    Hi Aaron,

Congradulations on moving to Washington. It's georgous here!!! As far as answering your question what aspects are you needing answered????
How to obtain your card? What to bring where???? These are very general questions....

First off let me start by asking: DO you fit into any of the catagories defined by Washington State laws, for qualifying patients? This is the first step and a huge one in determining if you qualify. Just cause ya have headaches don't cut the mustard!

BEFORE you move the best advice is to get a copy of your medical records. If you have em it's easier and will cost you less down time. I.E. the Dr here will have to get your records from your Dr. there first! YOU NEED DOCUMENTATION the more the better!!!!

You need to read up on the laws and see if you qualify first. Then you can ask SPECIFIC questions as to Dr's paperwork etc.... etc...
Hope this helps get you in motion. Do some homework first. there's no time like the present to prepair yourself BEFORE the move!!!! Your on the right track. Preperation!!!!!

    DC...

Thanks, im really excited and nervous and ll of those things people get before picking up and moving. I have 2 herniated discs in my lower back that are not able to be fixed through surgery, and I have been diagnosed with Chronic Pain and have been told by multiple doctors that I will need to be on narcotics for the rest of my life to maintain any quality of life, however, we have tried many different medications, al with minimal pain relief...if any at all. Its been 2 years of pills and because of the laws here, I had to stop using MJ, otherwise my pain management clinic would discharge me as a patient. I wish now I had never even gone to them because stopping the medication is uncomfortable.
My plan is to bring all of my records and MRI films, etc and see the WA cannabis group ASAP. I know I have to go get my WA license ASAP when I arrive to establish myself as a WA resident...
is there anything else I need to/should do?
    Thanks
    Aaron

Depending where in western Washington will determine what doctors you will find easily available. If you are going to be in King County or close to it, there are enough that you shouldn't have a problem finding one. Look at the law and see that you qualify, have your medical records, pick your doc from the Stranger or Little Nickle or read the links and reviews in the Washington state forum on this site. Be aware that there should be an initiative process again in 2011 but still get your medical authorization and keep checking here for updates in the Wa forum.

^good luck and good luck Washington with initiative next year. My advice to the framers of this act is don't use the word "tax" or the word "regulate" anywhere in the title or language. that kind of language seems to scare some folks. :twocents:

My suggestions ... :rastasmoke: "The Medical Privacy Act of 2011" that simply allows adults to grow their own without the need to be on any list or database, etc. I would model it after the privacy protection built into the Alaskan Constitution. I would love to see this trend started.

but, of course, legal coffee houses in Seatle would be really f'n cool, too. :rasta: good luck.

nope, no relation. interesting dude, tho, I had to look him up. its funny Anthro was the very first class I had when I went to college in Cali and where I met the girl that would become the reason I keep going back there for visits. :4:

I am due for a trip out there. I would have gone for the prop 19 victory parties but ... no biggie I guess, its not like its really hard to get weed out there now. I usually have venders greet me at the airport. :rastasmoke:
