I would be willing to drop out of SS.. if they refund all the money I've paid in, with interest, and I wont call the fire dept., as long as I dont have to pay taxes that support them anymore.

I'm willing to forgo my Social Security and take it one step further and forfeit all that I contributed for the last 19 years. I'd rather take the hit now when I have time to rebuild it than to try and do so when I am 65. Don't take my money and let me invest as I choose and let my employer contribute too.

Count me out regardless, its not gonna be around when Im 60 anyway....its just about bankrupt. Not to mention that my wife and I are gonna have way more saved by the time we retire so we dont need to rely on social security...like most adults do. If your counting on some social security blanket for when you retire I suggest ya start making other plans. Straight up.

Funny how Finland is a much better country than the States however you cut it, and yet socialism is considered the supreme evil. Perhaps they lack the zeal to keep their government's hands off their damn medicare. I sincerely hope that the obese Texans who kept health care costing an arm and a leg for so many years went to their heart-disease related deaths comforted by the idea that at least none of their taxes went towards helping sick people, only blowing people up across the Middle East.

If we're talking saving spending, how about America dismantles just a few of its many many superfluous army bases across the world that solely exist to intimidate? Or take a five-minute look at Israel's human rights record and cut them off from the billions of dollars of unsupervised aid they send every year? There are dozens of ways to save money without keeping the impoverished sick paying huge bills for their illnesses. If you think your country would be ANY better off under the Republicans, I wish you well in Narnia.

Thats funny, did ya steal it straight from Time Magazine's last month article? Finland? What a freakin joke dude. I've been to Finland, multiple times.......Denmark and Sweden too. You could put the entire populations of all three in Texas alone. As as matter of fact.....seems THE PEOPLE who actually live in FINLAND......not CANADA......seem to be thinking quite differently than Canadians and Time Magazine with their neighbors in Swedens recent elections EH? Bet the "euro-socialists" controlling that nation are getting nervous.....and they should be.

Ummmmmm, no, I was incarcerated when I was 18 for a little under two years....for dope cases and probation violations. Heroin wasn't till YEARS later when I was 27 and I kicked it ALL BY MYSELF at a friends house in Austin after fleeing Chicago with a 100 dollar a day habit. The county time was the worst......once ya make it to your farm you WORK your days away and use cell phomes and drink pruno all night.

You ignored every point I made except for my praise of Finland, which is a truly lovely country I've spent significant time in, my girlfriend's family being from there. For every prime minister with money to spare who wants to bypass a waiting list, there's a thousand in America with an illness and no money, wishing they were in Canada where it won't cost them their house.

Socialism is of course flawed like every product of the human mind, but it's certainly a step up. I've never understood how Americans can have about the shittiest wages, the longest working hours,the least benefits and the largest gap between rich and poor in the industrialized world and say they are the freest and most prosperous people, and that their way must be the best. If they had a little humility they might see fit to learn from other nations.
