Got a lot of questions and here is one that must be right- how many amps for 2- 1000 watt HID,s an AC window unit when needed also a dehumidifier - exhaust fan- and 2 circulation fans- I easily have 50 amps available an could with some work get another 20 amp circuit - getting ready to order gear in a week or so and trying to get my wiring needs resolved first

you will need 15 amp breakers for each of the 1000W HIDs. ohm's law states I=V/R or current = voltage divided by resistance.

    120V/1000W= 12amps

15A breakers are designed to let you put a 12A load on them. so 2 for the lights, and another for the a/c and another accessory perhaps, but check the power consumption of the a/c. and then another circuit for the rest of your accessories.

so you will need to get those 20 extra amps.

how many amps needed for grow-room

I have just recently completed my grow room. I would not put in 15 amp breakers....20 amp...just in case. Lots of plugs....I put in 16 plugs, seperate circuit for the Air conditioner....got a split system, so in the winter I will have heat as well.....it only draws 9 amps.... I have 60 amp breaker and jus barely have enought power, but I have 7 1000 watt lamps, split system, 4 fans, huge Can fan 1700 CFM, 2 sets of T5 4' for clones and a cloner, big 1/4 hp pump for watering, CO2 on a timer, It adds up quick, and you can never have too many plugs.

Good Luck.....let me know if you need any help.

One other thing....it takes lots of time to put a well thought out grow room, all of your ballasts need to either be hung or on shelves or mounted on the wall.....I worked most of the day today, and 1/2 of the day yesterday. It's always something....To be successful you have to check things twice a day.

    Good luck

I highly suggest putting your cooling methods on the same circuit as your lights, if possible. You want them both going out at the same time if something trips a breaker, or you could kill your plants with too much heat or cold.

He would have to use a double pole breaker to do that.

so you have your whole setup minus the a/c on a 60 amp circuit breaker?
