Plant is breaking!!! And, one not flowering!
Hello everyone!! I had a grow log going called "New Grower, Long time smoker," but I haven't had much luck with posting new questions in that thread (although, the advice I have gotten was very helpful), so I decided to start a new thread. I have several clones, growing outdoors, directly in the ground. They get FF nutes weekly.
Problem#1:
My largest female clone, Sweet Hawaiian Skunk, is about 7 feet tall, and very bushy. In the past few days, all of the main branches have been getting top heavy, from the flowering I assume, and are breaking off partially at the stock. so I have done my best to stabilize the plant by tying the biggest branches to the main stock, fence, etc. My questions are: Will the plant recover? Or will the branches eventually die? Could this be due to over watering? I live in Northern Cali, so it has been in the high 90's, low 100's, so they have been getting water every 4-5 days. (when top soil is dry)
Potential Problem #2:
My good 'ol fashioned Skunk plant is only about 5 ft tall, but is quite beautiful. Due to the location it is planted on my property, there is a street light that shines over the top of it (not sure what kind of bulb it is) for about 3 additional hours after dark. This is the only plant that has not fully flowered yet, and I am concerned that it may be due to the light it is getting from the street light at night. It isn't very bright, but I know that complete darkness is ideal. My question is: Could this plant be flowering slower due to the stupid f*@#ing street light? Should I shoot the light out? Or should I be a good citizen, and leave the light alone, and simply cover the plant with a tarp, or sheet at night?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Happy Growing! :jointsmile:greenthmb Reviewed by greenthmb on . Plant is breaking!!! And, one not flowering! Hello everyone!! Id try better at tie the bigger branches up before they break. As far as it recovering? They are very strong so maybe tie the broken branches back in place the best you can a use masking tape to bond it in place.
As far as the light goes I have the same problem as I have a flood light in my back yard which my wife wants on at night no matter what. Maybe divert the light with something like you said but rather then cover it maybe make a leanto of sorts to block it at night.
Hope this helps some.
Nice looking girls by the way:rastasmoke:

Oh and yes the light will cause it to slow. I figured that out last grow. Had to move my plant and then she took off like crazy so yes it does effect it:stoned:

yea the street lamp is keeping her in veg. Street lamps are commonly HPS(the same bulb i use for my indoor plants) or LPS. Its basically a big grow light .

Plant is breaking!!! And, one not flowering!
So, I've been covering the plant for almost a week now, when should she start flowering? I am seeing early pre-flowering, but no progress like the others.. Could this be a nutrient lock up of some sort? Or is it just this skunk strain that is taking longer to flower? Any advice is appreciated...
Happy Growing!

A zip tie around the main stem, just under the branch that is worring you will prevent the branch from peeling off. If you have any rain, the buds on the branch will act like a sponge, adding water weight, then you will have real problems.
In most cases a split off branch can be put back from where she came from with no ill effects. Figure a way to take the weight off the split, then tie her up or zip tie her, or both. Be gentle and it should work.
The streetlight should not be a problem after you shoot it out. But that may not be such a bright idea...pun intended. Someone on a cherry picker will have to go up there, and from that perch he will be able to look into your back yard and see the girls. Not to mention he will be able to tell from what direction the shots came from.... So if you must take it out, hit it from the other side.
