my version of bud butter
I've been experimenting with edibles myself. I don't care for the strong taste of the cannabis in my "goodies" and believe my time is well spent using Stinky's recipe. Look it up on this site, it's a sticky. Essentially pulls out all the water soluable impurities in the cannabis and much of the chlorophyll that makes it taste so strong. It's pretty much the same idea as you have done except you pour off the water once the butter sets in the fridge and add more back in and heat it all up again. This is done twice after the plant material has been removed. Might sound like a lot to do, but the cannabis taste is pretty subtle in the edibles. I use 1 oz to about 1.25 cups of butter and about the same volume of RO or distilled water.
Just made a batch of chocolate chip cookies with a cup of "budbutter" and am amazed at the effect of just one cookie! Perfect for chemo days, and checking out for several hours. Ended up freezing individual scoops to save and bake as needed. (Probably could use half cannabutter, half plain butter for the next batch.)
I'm curious about the lotion you want to try to make for your husband. Would this be rubbed on his back for pain relief? I never thought about using cannabis as a topical treatment for localized pain. Very interesting... I've made herbal oils for healing the skin using olive oil, sweet almond oil, and a poultice using castor oil. Can't imagine cannabis would be much different. Go for it!
