the best way to hang spiral CFL bulbs???

whats the most efficiant way to hang a twisted CFL? is it straight down or sideways horizontally? I was reading that straight down above the plant is more effective on a plant because the the tip is the brightest point, but most grow cases I see are hanging sideways horizontally. anyone know the truth behind this?

The orientation of the bulb doesn't seem to be as important as the distance of the plant. Letting the plants grow adjacent to the bulb, or in other words past the bulbs and beside ensures that the least amount of light is wasted.
Experiment with manipulating your buds to grow under, and around your bulbs with tying, or bending.
