    Ok...

I suspect you have never tried this method of growing before bigtopsfinn, or you would know that growing outdoor in Fox Farm Ocean Forest using nothing but evaporated hose water and a compost tea is a completley effective and viable way to grow.
Nope never tried it, but I would think that it depends on the composition of the compost, am I right?

Fox Farm wants you to buy all of their extra liquid nutrients and their counterparts even though you don't need them. They are selling you snake oils that are 99% water and making tons of money by doing it.
Many people around the online communities would disagree, but to each his own

Evaporated hose water is exactly what it sounds like. It is hose water that has been purified by way of natural evaporation (PH = 7.0). The trace minerals in the water are too heavy to evaporate, leaving you with a purified watering that is usually done from underneath the plant opposed to watering from the top, which increases overall growth of the plant as it searches for water opposed to just being given it. I water my outdoor plants with this method by using an Earthbox. Just fill up the resevior as needed. Usually 2-3 cups every other day for me....
Looking at that video, I would assume that the roots grow straight down into that reservoir, and the plant would suck up the water from there faster than the water can evaporate. So I'd still say that ph is important, and I think you might be one of the lucky ones that has a great water source. I still would rather err on the side of caution when recommending this to others without knowing my source ph.

The fact of the matter here lilbambam is that there is a million different ways to grow some good buds. It's all about finding what works for you. The above is an alternative organic way to grow, and it is easy as 1,2,3,4. Give it a try one season and you wont be dissapointed.
Yup, totally agree that there are many ways to grow. But the success of each method has a lot to do with the fine details that make it work. I just have a problem with quick, simple explanations that give only part of the bigger picture.

I'm also not a fan of organics, as someone once said, "it's the Rube Goldberg of cannabis cultivation" I'm of the firm belief that a minimum 2-part nutrient system is required to grow the best, since the plants want plenty of nitrogen early on, but not so much later on (makes for some harsh, poorly burning smoke too)

But thanks GROWxMOREx420 for explaining it a little more in detail  I'm sure it can work, but until I see more people using this with proven results, start to finish to smoke, I have to be skeptical. But maybe I'll try it someday for myself

Evaporated hose water. I don't know why I had a mental block on that. Yes, water from the hose that has been allowed to sit (and evap the chlorine) for a few. Got it now, thanks.

Anyways, all bullshit to the side, that is how I grow outdoor organic bomb. Botanical Gardens in Humbolt, CA only buys/sells Clean Green certified Cannabis so it must be grown 100% organic and pass all mold & pest screenings. They are a bunch of hippes up there, so whatever man... lol. They love their organics, Rune Goldberg or not. Haha.

I just wanna throw out there the fact that my personal grow is indoors and only 80% organic, so it's not like I am against any type of growing or using chemicals. I will just defend organic growing because it is fun to practice, and a great way to get in touch with symbiotic nature. Not to mention organic bud is killer, even if it tends to be a little bit fluffy. Its just as good as indoor if grown right.

fox farm liquids being 99% water snake oils? are you serious?

Did you ever wonder how they work in hydro systems if theres no "ready soil" to provide nutes the whole cycle?

I can say from experience that the 3 part liquids are amazing nutes. Ive used them in soil and hydro with great results. Also used the 3 part in cheap soil from wal mart... which is nothing like ocean forest and had explosive results after first application.

Fox farms makes their products to work together for optimum results. If you are using the soil by itself with no nutes then you are only using 50% of the FF system.

I'm not saying the FF solutions don't work. I have used the Fox Farm 3 part liquid nutrients, as well as their soluble counterparts. They work just fine, so long as you use plenty of PH Up to conteract how acidic the chemicals are.

However, there is no denying the fact that you do not need them. What I do not like about the line is the price, which makes it a snake oil. You are buying mostly water, and that is a fact. Earth Juice offers the same quality nutrients at half the price without any of the added chemicals.

The truth is you can grow quality marijuana with nothing but soil and water. I did it my first grow, and humans have been doing it for thousands of years.
