I have so much respect for people who love and care for animals, I love animals myself. I think you should find out for sure what's wrong with him before you do anything else. Then, if it's something serious which is causing him a lot of pain it would be best to put him to sleep so nothing can hurt him any more. I know it will be very hard to let him go but it will be for the best, you wouldn't want him to feel pain would you?
