    Puting animals down(Your Opinon)

Ok well ive been thinking about this now because well we have a dog i think should be put down. Its a Sheltie that is 12 years old, ive had him since i was 3 tho he mainly lived with my grandma. He has a disorder were he chews his foot which made us have to always have a muzzle on him. He has arthrtis also. Just recently his back right leg has become very swollen, we took him to the vet they said its probably just his arthrtis and gave us pain killers for him. The swelling didnt stop so we took him to another vet, they x rayd it and now are doing tests because they think it may be a tumor. He barely can walk and to get him to use the restroom my grandma has to carry him outside.I think hes suffering and just should be put down, she doesnt want to do it until we know its a tumor, but i think even if it isnt he should be put down, hes old and suffering. So what are your opinons on this, oh heres a picture of him.Oh btw his name is lassie like the one dog.

I don't want to say should or shouldn't, that is totally your call man. You've had that puppy forever. I've got a 2yr. old American Eskimo and it kills to think of him in your Sheltie's state. If Clinton was in that kind of pain I would choose to put him down. It would b selfish for me to keep him alive. His life biographically is over... its the biological part that's still kicking. It would be my fear of loss that'd keep him with me. I'd have to cope and do what is, in my opinion, in the best interests of the dog. But I understand the opposing argument too: killing animals is wrong, you want to appreciate their last days--I totally respect it. Whatever you decide don't let anyone tell you it was the wrong one... you know what's best for your dog. Hard decision man, I'm sorry. What's his name?

My friend had a boxer that got tumors and lost the use of her back legs. The family soon decided it was time to put they dog down after 13 or 14 years of living. I think if the animal is in pain with no possible way of ever getting better its time to say goodbye. I wish you, your dog, and the rest of the family the best.

hey man, my family dog is just like that. we've had him for 13 years, chews his leg, alls he does is sleep, pees in the basement sometimes, when we put him out he cant make it back up the stairs and he wanders in the road, hes deaf and probably blind. hes being put down next week. It sucks because hes my dog, hes never given me shit, hes always just been like "love me play with me i wont hurt you" and now im going to have to watch him die. I would want it done to me though

If he's suffering, just put him out of his misery.
