HELP ME WIRE THIS TIMMER PLEASE!!
The photos arent good enough nor have you provide a model number for the timer, both needed to give better advice for actual wiring advice. Past that I will offer a suggestion as to why the breaker is blowing. Is it possible you have a 10 or 15 amp breaker and it is to that you are connecting the timer, lights and possibly other loads as well? I dont know for certain which light you have, but it's possible that light and or whatever else it is your connecting, might be drawing more then the 15 amp breaker can handle. Not uncommon at all to need to connect this kind of equipment to a 20amp line.
Was the timer not wired when it arrived? If you plug just the timer into the wall does it throw the breaker? If so, then the amp overload theory is out since you weren't drawing a load. Next step: without the timer can you plug the lights into the wall and do they come on or does fuse blow? If so then the amp theory is no longer a theory. Finally, do you have a multimeter that could aid you? It might do nothing more then help you discover which wire goes with which prong on the socket and that might help you to wire it correctly. Look for the infinity sign on the meter, that's a continuity checker and it will tell you which end of one wire is the end of another. As best as possible you should attempt to match color for color but I assume your at least that smart already and at least one side does not match up with the other, but there it is in case that hadn't occurred to you yet.
