depends where on the east coast man. only thing you can do is let them go as long as possible. If they are 12 feet now, u should be producing TONS of bud fairly quickly. Let them go as long as you can, watch the weather channel and chop them right before the first frost. let them grow tho, trying to move inside, or shelter them wont help at all.
