    bugs in my plants

i am a northern calif medical marijuana grower.my plants range from about 6ft to well over 10 ft high (no pun intended) today while i was pulling off a few water leaves i found asmall hole in the stem of one of my lower laterals i cut tis off just above the hole and started disecting it until i found a small colony of bugs living inside this stem. they kinda look like a flying ant or even like a gnat. any idea what they are and what i can do about them pics included thank you in advance
